Happy Thanksgiving!!

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! We're headed on up the hill to Asheville for turkey and all the trimmings and the kids are excited!

Also an update on my mom - she got her 6 weeks results back (6 weeks into chemotherapy) and all of her masses have SHRUNK! AND NO NEW ONES! :) This is good news and she will continue in the clinical trial. Please continue to pray for her!

Hope everyone enjoys their day and remembers to thank God for the many blessings He has given us. May we all remember what today is for and not take it for granted.

Unforgetful You

I'll update sometime soon.

Mostly I've been trying to get better from this lovely virus I had - I'm finally feeling a great deal better and getting back out in the world.

I'm trying to get back in the swing of things and pondering an awful lot right now.
I'll leave you with one of my favorite songs by one of my very favorite bands. It's an older one but it says so much and reminds me just where I need to be.

Soccer, Soccer, and more Soccer!!

First of all - our Leprechauns (hence the lime green) - Mallory and her daddy's soccer team - won the AYSO regular season U10 girls division championship! They played 3 games last weekend and won them all! This was the culmination of a season of hard work on the part of these girls. I wish Mallory had gotten to be there for more games - as it was, she only got to play 1 quarter of the championship game. Tracy was assistant coach this season and our head coach was a fellow named David. You may recall a few seasons back our team won a championship with Tracy as head coach - it was against David and his daughter Katie's team for the championship game. So this was a great experience having them together! We had the best parents this season that made it just totally worth it - everyone, kids and parents, really came together.

We had our "banquet" this evening at Bronco's - each girl got a trophy and we had a cake with the team picture on it. I think the kids really had a blast! We had balloons and a raffle and they were sweet enough to give Tracy and David both gift cards!

This weekend we get the opportunity to play in another AYSO tournament. This is extra special because only 2 teams in each age group from our region got to go play and we are one of the 2 girls teams from U10 division in our region! We will be playing against teams outside of our region and from outside of Spartanburg County. This is a big deal for the girls and David already promised the girls a night out at Fuddrucker's on him (!) if they win this championship. I think the girls definitely have it in them!

They play 3 games this weekend and if they get to play the championship game, there will be a 4th game. The first three games are 8 a.m. Saturday, 1p.m. Saturday, and 8 a.m. Sunday. The championship game is at 2 p.m. on Sunday. I'll keep you posted if we make it that far and if you want to come see us, leave me an email or comment and I'll tell you where to find us!

Wish our girls luck! Pray for them to remain in good health, good spirits, and to show good sportsmanship always!

Tracy's important envelope

Tracy received a very important envelope in the mail today and I can't tell you about it yet (He won't let me). But it's made his day! :)
He has been waiting on it for 2 weeks now and he has checked the mail every day even asking me if I was SURE the mail didn't come on Veteran's Day. He never checks the mail. EVER. :) More on this later.

He could use some extra prayers over it as well. Pray for good things from this envelope! Thanks!

About that 10 things to do post...

Well, it is more like 2 weeks later. When I said my to-do list for a week, I had not planned on Mallory coming down with mono and throwing up all weekend and a hospital stay the next Monday through Wednesday for her. Taking care of a to-do list got pushed a little back needless to say.
I think I (we in some instances) have done well with it.
1. I finished Julia's chipboard letters for the bedroom.
2. I not only finished knitting my scarf, I started and completed one for Mallory as well. :)
3. Did not make it to reorganizing the entertainment center.
4. I did sort clothes a bit more, but mostly spent the time allotted for sorting clothes to sterilizing the house after Mallory went back to her mom's
5. I did get a few things of mine and Tracy's weeded out, but nowhere near completion.
6. cupcakes - no, I haven't made the cupcakes yet. I was going to make them Halloween weekend but since poor Mallory was having trouble keeping things down, I didn't make them. I did tell her that the next time she is over (and well) we'll make them together.
7. I didn't do anything to the website listings because they were all caught up to start with - who knew? :)
8. Folders - I am still behind. I need an afternoon in the office without Julia Grace in tow to complete this.
9. We did pick out a color of paint for the bathroom. And I purchased it. AND Tracy started painting that night and got all but 1 wall done on Election Night. The 1 wall isn't done bc we have to decide what to do with the hideous medicine cabinet/light above the sink. Optimal is a mirror and different kind of lighting but those things cost extra $$$ and we've yet to find anything we really like that doesn't cost several hundred $$.
10. I bought some flowers. Not done with picking them out though and they need to get in the ground this week.

So I don't guess that's too bad. Better than I thought we'd get done - further on some things, not as far as I'd like on others. We'll see how it goes this week. :)

Updating...

I'm a little behind in updating. I'll start with the weekend before Halloween - we met at Dan & Angie's house and carved pumpkins. I don't believe I've carved a pumpkin since I was a kid and I had so much fun! This is something that's become a yearly tradition at Dan & Angie's but we've not been able to make it(again - goes back to those cousins getting married in late October and last year it was out of town work).

Tracy and I had stopped by the pumpkin patch at St. Matthew's Episcopal to get pumpkins on the way out of town - Julia Grace spent the night at the hotel with Grandma and Grandpa. We saw Mallory's best friend Madison and her dad at the pumpkin patch just as we were leaving. They had been to the movies and had come to work in the pumpkin patch the rest of their Saturday evening. Madison sure is a sweet girl and funny too!

We headed down the road and had a yummy dinner and cupcakes (some people just couldn't WAIT on them to be frosted, but I won't post THOSE pics - haha) and peanut butter kiss cookies. Then we got down to the business of carving pumpkins. Mine and Tracy's are above and the group photo is below:

another hospital visit...

Mallory is in the hospital at Spartanburg Regional. She now has pneumonia on top of the mono. She is getting fluids and antibiotics via I.V. for now - hopefully she'll just be there a day or so. I know that's a lot for a kid, but I hope that's all she stays and that she gets well soon!

If you want to know how to reach her and send get well wishes, leave a comment or message me.

Keep her in your prayers - also today is my mom's 3rd chemotherapy treatment. She is doing okay with the exception of a really raw throat and it hurts her to talk. Keep her in your thoughts and prayers too.

Halloween and whatnot

I don't have very many pictures of Halloween - I left the photography up to Angie for the most part and I'm waiting on her pics. Let's just say Halloween started out with a bang. Mallory has MONO and we found this out on Thursday. It was looking iffy as to whether we would all get to go trick or treating. Mallory had an upset stomach all night Thursday and all during the day Friday. Mallory perked up at the doctors' office late afternoon and came on over. While Tracy was picking Mallory up for the weekend, I was getting Julia Grace ready for the evening. Bathtime - went smoothly as it usually does. Julia Grace loves a bath! It was afterwards that she had hissy fits over getting her tangles out of her hair. She got over that. Then the meltdown was over me putting her costume on her - she got over that after we danced around the kitchen and she realized her costume was kinda fluffy and twirled when she danced. Then we were back to meltdown as soon as I tried to pull her hair halfway up so she looked like the beautiful "Alice in Wonderland" that she was!

Mallory got to the house and we got her dressed & us out the door without too much calamity! We finally arrived at Dan & Angie's house.Tracy, Angie, and myself walked the girls around the neighborhood. We had a great time - Dan grilled out for us all and his parents and brother dropped by too. They played guitars a bit and we had dessert. Mallory loved on Patches and Freckles - she has recently told us she is "a dog person". Julia Grace kept trying to escape up their stairs. I guess Julia Grace is a "stair person". Na, not really. But I do believe she thinks she is a Wiggle or a monkey. More on that later.

As soon as I get pics I will post them and update on Mallory more tomorrow. Mallory goes back to the doctors' offices in the morning. She's been put on homebound as of Thursday. She also had to miss her class Halloween party and the soccer game on Saturday. She's not too happy about this "school at home" business. I hope she learns to make the best of it. The soccer team is tied for first place and has the first game of the tournament at 8.30 a.m. next Saturday - keep you posted on that too!

Hope everyone had a great Halloween/First of November weekend! Lots to post this week so come back! :)
